Can foreigners in South Africa get insurance with Sanlam Indie?

Our online quote process requires a South African ID number, so you can’t take out a policy with us if you don’t have a South African ID.

You CAN cover your family members with Sanlam Indie Family Funeral Cover if they are foreign nationals, but there are some conditions:

• All additional lives must live permanently in South Africa (with valid travel documents).

• Citizens of South Africa, Lesotho and Namibia are covered for deaths that occur in or outside of South Africa.

• All other nationalities are covered for deaths that occur in South Africa only‍.

• Sanlam Indie will deny claims for anything that happens in one of the excluded countries.
