What are the conditions covered by Sanlam Indie Critical Illness Cover?
Our Critical Illness benefit offers a maximum of R5 million cover. You are covered for the “big four” severe illnesses: Cancer, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG), Heart Attack and Stroke. You are also covered for other life-changing events, including organ transplants and paraplegia.
Our Critical Illness Cover benefit covers the following conditions:
1. Cancer

Specified aggressive cancer (pancreas, oesophagus, lung, liver, mesothelioma) | 150% |
Breast cancer | 15% if you claim within the first 3 months of your cover start date. 100% cover applies after this 3-month period. |

Malignant melanoma of the skin | |
Other cancer | 100% |
2. Life-changing events
You have 100% cover for all SCIDEP (Standardised Critical Illness Definitions Project) severity levels of certain defined heart attacks, strokes and coronary artery bypass grafts.
We also cover you for other major life-changing events.

ICU stay of 7 days or more | 50% |
You also have 100% cover for a ‘catch-all’ claim. This means that you’re permanently unable to care for yourself because you’re either permanently bedridden or wheelchair-bound. Or, you permanently rely on frail care or home care.
Does the extent of my condition matter?
While other insurance companies may only cover you at your most severe phase (Level A), we cover you at all 4 levels of your condition, giving you peace of mind.
